Hola!

This week, let’s talk about the struggle we go through to decide what to wear on simpler occasions; while not being over-dressed.

Every time we waste so much time and energy in deciding what to wear for those simple but special occasions.  We want to slay without looking so over the top. That fine line between being fabulous and appearing drab is so hard to maintain for these occasions.   It could be your friend’s engagement, your relative’s anniversary celebration or any other function which does not need you to stock up on heavy garments or jewelry. For these type of functions it’s better to invest into some pieces which are timeless and can be repeated with ease.

Just some  tips which will come in handy while you dress up for these occasions:

  • Try choosing the garments with rich fabrics. Fabrics such as silk, georgette, chiffon, suede, satin etc looks good and fall much better when you wear them, hence improving the overall appeal. Avoid cottons or stiff polyesters.
  • Go for minimal embellishments. It could be even simple tonal embroidery all over or heavy embellishment in one place.
  • If you feel that your outfit looks a bit under-dressed for the occasion, style it with some statement jewelry. That way, the main focus will be your jewelry rather than the outfit.
  • Choose color wisely. The color can make or break the outfit. (What I do? I Opt for something I feel the most confident in.)

From my personal experience, it’s always beneficial to invest into garment pieces which can be worn to these kinda occasions with ease and without a second thought. I bought this georgette indo-western floor length Anarkali a year back and have worn it to different occasions; cousin’s roka ceremony, friend’s engagement and 2 more. (Yup! I do repeat my clothes! A lot!) I usually style it with a pair of statement earrings, a neck chain(once), a bold bracelet or watch and footwear, preferably flats.
